Design Story

I wanted to try and capture that chaotic movement of air through the natural graining of the wood.
I work with a bronze foundry in Chicago and one day I noticed an antique bellows hanging on their wall. It was no longer in use, but I was struck by its form and function. The flair of the neck inspires the tables base shape and the accordion back inspires the riffle around the base. The top represents the rush of air escaping the bellows when operated. I wanted to try and capture that chaotic movement of air by segmenting and turning the natural graining of the wood. The goal in the design of Frill was to create a family of tables that when placed together form a striking coffee table or could stand alone with pride.
