As of June 2011, Kimball International employs 6,362 people worldwide, of whom 3,787 are employed in the United States.

Kimball International complies with all U.S. federal, state, local, and non-U.S. country-specific national and international laws regarding labor relations, including works councils and union representation. At this time, none of the Company's employees in Thailand, China or the U.S. are represented by labor unions, Employees are represented by works councils or unions in our Mexico and Poland operations.

Kimball is proud of its long standing record on ethical employment practices, encompassing more than the legal stipulations of human and labor rights, including our total approach to employee relations which upholds human dignity in its workforce.

Kimball operations are covered by the Company's own labor code, made public via postings throughout our facilities. The code covers such topics as freedom of association, forced labor, child labor, and equality in employment, including nondiscrimination and equal remuneration.

Equal opportunity and nondiscrimination have specific sections in the Kimball Employee Handbook. Equal remuneration is reviewed annually during the Equal Opportunity Compensation Analysis in the U.S. The global Employee Handbook also includes a section on discrimination and harassment prevention. Additionally, employees receive group training.

Kimball believes that employees have the right to a safe workplace, and places the highest value on safety. Kimball International has a corporate Safety Policy, and a Safety Management System that each business unit or location implements to address concerns, assure best practices and manage the safety of our employees.

Special Recognition:

Kimball Electronics-Mexico (located in Reynosa), was honored by the Mexican government for continuously improving safety and health for two consecutive years.

Kimball’s National Office Furniture-Fordsville (Kentucky) facility earned certification under the State of Kentucky’s Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program (SHARP),a program designed to encourage and recognize excellence in occupational safety and health.

Kimball International has been honored with recognition from the Indiana Employer Support of The Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a federal Department of Defense program that promotes cooperation between the military and civilian employers in accommodating employees’ military commitments.

Kimball Electronics-China was named a “Green Rating Company” by the Jiangning Environmental Bureau for environmental protection and energy saving management.

Thailand’s federal government has named Kimball Electronics-Thailand an “outstanding establishment,” based on achievements regarding its safety record, labor relations and welfare for three consecutive years.

Kimball International received the “Vice President’s Safety Award” from Liberty Mutual® insurance, for the Company’s Kimball Electronics-Jasper facility, for outstanding safety achievement actions that result in the protection of people or property.
